1. Data Collection

TraceLedger does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All information you enter — accounts, transactions, categories, budgets — is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device.

We collect nothing. There are no analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking, and no telemetry of any kind.

2. Internet Access

TraceLedger requests the INTERNET permission for two limited purposes only:

Update checks — When you open the app, it may fetch a small JSON file from our server (traceledger.pages.dev) to check whether a newer version is available. This request contains only your app version number in the User-Agent header. No account information, device identifiers, or financial data are ever sent.

External links — Links to external pages (Discord, website) open in your device's browser using Android's standard intent system. TraceLedger itself does not make these requests.

All financial data — transactions, accounts, budgets, categories — is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted over the internet under any circumstances.

3. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Room (SQLite). The database is stored in the app's private storage area and is not accessible to other apps.

If you uninstall TraceLedger, all data is permanently deleted from your device.

4. Backups

TraceLedger supports manual JSON and CSV export. These files are created only when you explicitly request an export and are saved to a location of your choosing on your device.

Android's Auto Backup may include app data in your Google account backup depending on your device settings. You can disable this in your Android backup settings.

5. Third-Party Services

TraceLedger does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or social media SDKs. There are no ad networks and no tracking libraries inside the app.

The optional tip jar feature opens PayPal or a UPI app on your device. These are standard Android intents — TraceLedger does not process or store any payment information.

6. Children

TraceLedger does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we collect no personal data at all, this app complies with COPPA by design.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be included in the app update and noted in the changelog. The effective date at the top of this document will be updated accordingly.
